Defrosting the fridge didn’t work permanently and the ice has returned a few more times. I’ll try a new evap cover as you’ve suggested.

I’ve been slow at getting around to defrosting the fridge because it meant emptying the thing. Defrosting it tonight.

Thanks – I’ll give the full defrost a go. The evap cover has been off so many times that parts of the seal (especially underneath) have broken away. I’ll let you know how things go.

Hi Dave, good news, I disturbed an already partly broken cable in the smaller wiring loom. The wire came apart completely just as you said, and the alarm then triggered regardless of door position.

I’ve since re-wrapped the wire and there’s now no alarm – hurrah !! Tomorrow I need to get a connector of some sort to keep the two wires attached permanently, but it looks as if your help has sorted it. thank you so much.

There are as you say plenty of wires the same colour. When I looked earlier today there were for example 4 all the same shade of blue. Let’s hope it’s pretty obvious which wire it might be, and I can then give the wire the pull and tug test 🙂

Hi Dave, pretty certain you’re on the money. I gained access to the wiring loom which runs from the door to the base. If I press against the loom where the kink is while lowering the door the dishwasher is good (no alarm), However, lower the front door without pressure on the loom and the alarm triggers.

There appears to be about 20 wires in the loom, which is surrounded by a black sticky tape sleeve to keep the wires bunched together. I guess next I need to remove the sleeve surrounding the wires and look for any visible damage in the first instance. I’m not very experienced with a multi-meter so hoping it doesn’t need to reach that stage.

Hi Dave, Thanks for the reply. I can see the wiring loom beneath the door that connects to the components in the base (it’s quite a large loom with a bend in it). At this stage, do you have a recommendation ? i.e. new dishwasher, or something else ?
