ParticipantRe: Fitting belt on Zanussi Dryer
Thanks farmboy. I do have the old belt in a figure of 8. It does rub itself as the little felt pad that is supposed to prevent this has a deep groove worn in it over time. Can one get replacements of even just stick something on top to push the belt out? I guess this might prevent wear on the little green belt.
However, I turned the dryer round (backwards) with the little green belt off and it still makes the noise so guess, although you have correctly identified a problem on my dryer (thanks again), it is not the cause of my little squeak. Any other ideas gratefully accepted? My own feeling is that it is something to do with the front part of the drum rubbing as there was a bit of rubbery stuff about 7 inches long with a cross section of about 2mm x 1mm in with the fluff I took out of the front. It didn’t seem to obviously come from anywhere accessible. Maybe it did something useful…. LOL.. perhaps I should have mentioned it earlier?

I found this thread very useful as I had the same problem i.e. I decided to replace the belt myself on my Zanussi TC470 Condenser tumble dryer and found the tension on the belt was wrong. The routing description for the belt was great and I followed the advice and now it is correct.
I was so pleased that I decided to follow the advice about cleaning the “bearings”. Wow you could stuff a small cushion with the fluff I took out of the front. I thought this would take away the slight screech that it makes on the reverse tumble part of the cycle. Sadly it didn’t. Could anyone explain why it makes this noise and should I be worrying about it? -
