I’ve finally got a working machine.
The recirculation pump and the door lock were both changed, so I don’t know which was the guilty party.
I wasn’t that hopeful as the diagnostic mode didn’t display rpm / temp etc – but that isn’t affecting the machine. The repair company didn’t exactly send their top engineer this time, and I had to reset the old error code after they left – but as the machine now works I can somewhat overlook this. Especially as I’ve ended up with 2 new PCBs and a heater element in addition to the recirculation pump and door lock. Thanks to all who have given their input. Hopefully this will also help others if they have the same symptoms.

Well engineer number 3 inspired me with confidence. Immediately went to the diagnostic menus.
What he did discover (which I had spotted before, but didn’t realise what it meant) is that the diagnostic cycles weren’t displaying spin speed / temperature on the display. Because these perimeters are passed back from the door lock, he thinks this may well be where the fault is originating from (along with the fact of the other components that have already been replaced)Parts are now on order and I’m awaiting visit number 6 for them to be fitted. Does this diagnosis sound about right to everyone?

Okay, so another visit from an engineer later and another new part – to resolve the sensor on the heater element, which was the last diagnosis.
Fault still present….
I’m sure the fault has something to do with the pressure switch to detect that the machine has correctly drained. But now I’m going to have to arrange for yet another visit. Perhaps this time I will not let the engineer leave until he has seen the machine fail after 29 minutes.
Sigh…

Well the engineer they sent this time sounded more competent. There was the clanking of metal panels and the beeping of a multimeter.
Latest diagnosis is the heater controller. Part is now on order. I’m sure I will post an update after my next engineer visit.

The repair company are now sending around one of their “senior repair engineers”. I’m hoping that he will be able to do a better diagnostic of the fault.
So your top tip for checking would be around the pressure sensor and heating elements?

Yeah – it’s stumped me too!
I was wondering if it could be the pressure switches, not realising that it had completely drained.
What’s the best way to see if there is any blockage? Gunk or scale?
I’ve taken off the pressure switch and blew/sucked a couple of times. Equally I’ve blown down the pressure tube.January 22, 2014 at 10:03 pm in reply to: John Lewis JLWD1408 not moving from wash cycle to rinse #408175Evil_dave

Hi Martin,
Yes the recirculating pump is working and water comes from the outlet at the top of the door. I’ve even done the recirculation test cycle and that all seemed fine.Dave
