Re: Hotpoint CTD040 Condenser Dryer Does Not Spin

I have had a look at the bearing at the back and all seems ok there, no black dust. The dryer works for approx 10 minutes then the motor starts to make a whirring noise and it starts to struggle then stops, I can also hear screeching coming from somewhere, I think its the bearing, any more ideas?

OK, thankyou. Does it matter which connectors go where, is there a plus and minus? I cant see anything on the faulty one.

Yes, the peg is still there but I stuck a screwdriver in there and started the machine and no buzzing, the heater started up but still no spin. Does the motor kick in straight away? I cant remember.
I took the door switch off and had a look at how it works, I presume there is a cellunoid in the switch to push the pin down when the door is shut because it does not come down itself. Is this right?

So thats the buzzing fixed now when I start the motor does nothing but if I give it a push start it works but of course when it stops and goes in reverse it needs a helping hand again.
