Just a courtesy to say thanks CJAP Peterborough now I’ve 5 mins spare to post. 😉
Found no blockages so took the pump off the machine after the resistance appeared pretty normal to me. Run on the bench ok so popped it back and it’s been working fine now for a good few weeks. I’m not sure if they can stick but if it happens again I’ll buy a new one!

Many thanks for taking the time to reply.
I have filled with a jug as suggested and then reset display goes to 0 but nothing happens, no humming from the pump what so ever now. The impeller did turn freely with the usual resitance every so often. I’ll meter out the pump later it could be that what was giving off the burning smell.
I will check the flap valve as suggested and post back my findings.
