That sounds like a pretty accurate diagnosis, the water is coming out at those sort of intervals. Where is evaporator drain hole and is it a diy job?

Yes there is a small ammount of ice on the freezer floor.
Looks kind of old though and not recently formed.

Left hand side from underneath freezer side – every day and always late evening. Have pulled it out to see if any pipes have come free but nothing appears to be obviously damaged or out of place.
