Yep, of course you must be right about the pipe being for overflow. I didn’t think it through before the end of my posting.
There are minor traces of overflow in the base. Long dry as they are covered in dust. I had the machine tilted in all directions last night and no water came out.
Presumably there is a valve that should switch over between the fill and wash cycles that should stop back-flow to the salt container. Could that cause the error if it’s not closing after fill?
I’ll try to get access to the rest of the valves tonight for a test. After that it’s probably time to bite the bullet and get someone in.
Cheers!

Hi,
I have had a closer look at the machine. It does indeed appear to start to fill. I just coulddn’t see with the filter set in place. I’m not fluent in dishwasher component terminoligy so can I just check, when you say fill valve – are you talking about the main inlet valve? That unit appears to switch over fine when 240V is applied. I have tried stemming the flow into the dishwasher to try to induce the error earlier but this has no effect.
This is what happens as best as I can describe:
-Program set.
-Drain unit activates
-After 30 secconds or so the inlet valves open no problem and water feeds via the salt compartment into the base of the filter set in the bottom of the dishwasher. The drain unit continues throughout.
-After a furhter 30 secconds the display changes to flashing green ‘fill’ neon. The inlet valves close, water stops and the drain unit continues.
-The drain continues a while longer and stops.
-Flashing ‘fill’ continues.
Also, this could be related. There is a shot glass size nossle with several holes in the back of the dishwasher which sits under the rotating arms. This is attached on the underside to a hose which I just discovered has lost it’s connection at the other end. So presumably if the dishwasher had ever filled up, the water would have drained out all over the kitchen. From my vantage points I can’t see where it should be connected to. Any hints?
Cheers,Chris

Thanks Iadom! That info should help. The unit does not start to fill initially though. It runs through the symptoms completely dry.
Cheers,
Chris
