    It worked! I found the backplate in the way you advised, and it is now fitted. Job’s a good ‘un! Many thanks Jim.

    Just spotted that I have got the model number wrong – it is a WD72.

    I’ve just had a look, but I don’t have a bottom section at the back that could be removed – just a complete metal sheet that covers the whole back. I’m concerned that, if I undo the screws holding this on, they will all have backplates behind them, and I haven’t a clue how I would put them back in!

    When the soap drawer on my machine is taken out, the housing for the drawer remains, and so blocks access to the inside of the machine. Its surrounded by four screws which, again, I’m wary about removing. It certainly looks more straightforward to get behind the hinge area from the power drawer than from the top, though, so I’d welcome any thoughts on whether I can safely remove these screws.
