IIRC,if you work on any gas appliance, you are to check at the meter for any pressure drop or rise, within the tolerances set out, after the service/repair has been completed.
If an anomality is found it has to be rectified; if qualified depending on appliance causing problem, or gas system made safe within legal guidlines and owner/tenant advised accordingly of additional work that needs to be undertaken to rectify problem.Greg

With the appliance un-plugged, I would be looking for a faulty mains supressor within the machine as a starter as they have been known to cause this fault.Greg
