the temp sensor is tubular in shape, aluminium housing about 10 mm diameter and40mm long-ish. thank you for the advice which you have passed onto me.
given that i do not have a quality machine and given that it is broken with no obvious cost effective easily repairable fault it would seem likely that buying another machine seems politic. would you be so kind as to suggest a good machine that i ought to consider? i very much appreciate your input here.
having just relayed your consideration to my wonderful wife, she is i suspect somewhat delighted that a new machine is on the cards and has expressed a preference for a high capacity robust machine. any further suggestions you are able to offer will be helpful i am sure. thank you.

ok, i checked the continuity with an avo and it is good. whilst i was in there i removed as many terminals as i could reach without further dis-assembly and cleaned the contacts and checked that they were secure. i can see no rips, tears, burnt offerings at the connectors and no loose wires or fittings.
do i have to reset anything having replaced the water temp probe?
i did not check the old probe in warm water with an avo nor did i check the new one. i guess it is possible but not probable that the new item is faulty. how ever am i barking up the wrong tree?
    i checked the model number,
    indesit w 104 sp
    s/n 20724716746244150001
    1850w at 1000rpm.
    ipx4
type lb2000c. perhaps the fact that i am in spain has some bearing on the model number? it is a machine which came with the house which we recently bought. it has been working good and it looks to be in a fairly good condition inside and out.
