Dave – I tried the cable ties, but not strong enough to shift the blockage. The entry to the drain behind the freezer and heater pipes is partially covered by strips of the aluminium drain pan, presumably to catch any larger debris. I managed to get a Dremmel-type grinding wheel in and cut off one strip, giving better access to the drain. The cable ties would still not go down. Eventually I squirted in some drain unblocker, which worked very quickly. Followed by a compressor and hot water. Job done – I hope. What I then forgot to do was try the cable tie down the cleared drain! Thanks for the idea. Graham

Thanks for this advice. It is not a high pressure compressor – came off pharmaceutical tablet packaging machine. Graham

Thanks Dave – sounds a good idea, I have some fairly heavy ones. Will let you know if it works. May also try drain cleaner if I can reach the hole using a syringe, followed by a blast from a compressor (which by itself did not work a couple of months ago). I will get there eventually! It may be 10 years old but too good to replace because of a bunged up drain. Back on again for the fridge so will have another go in a couple of days, Cheers – Graham
