ParticipantRe: Bosch sms40t32uk/01 not heating
there is more info about the relay at the ‘stuck on one minute” thread. Mine didn’t show the burn marks on the boards but still had failed. I replaced that, cleaned out the matrix, reset and was good to go.
Most of the boards are similar i think. This is mine – the relay was the left hand one. OUr machine is the SRS45E42GB. I ordered mine from China – it’s cheap but takes a couple of weeks to arrive. You can probably check the specs and get en equivalent from Maplin. the board isn’t that compact so it’s quite easy to change.

Update: turned out all it took was a reset.
In short, I got a machine, which the local repairer said should be thrown out, working for £4, for the new relays (which took a few weeks to arrive from China), plus some descaler and bicarbonate of soda to clear the fat. I followed the advice here – new relay, cleaning water matrix, the float chamber, and the hose that feeds the float chamber.
Thanks to all of those who contributed help!

Firstly, sorry for reviving an old thread – but it seems to cover exactly the problems I’ve had with our Bosch SRS45E42GB.
We had the common 1 minute problem. WE actually called out an engineer, he unclipped the control board and it started working again, briefly. Then it stopped once more.
WE called the engineer, he said it was probably the control board – but that we should throw out the machine, as the control board costs £100 and another part (the thyristor?) usually goes straight after.
I don’t want to machine to end up in landfill and can’t afford a new one. So I ordered a relay from China and replaced it (I couldn’t see burns on the board, so it’s possible it was OK). Still didn’t work.
THen I cleaned the large clear flat tank (the water matrix?) which was full of limescale and grease. I also cleared the right hand chamber (pressure chamber?) and the hose which runs to it.
EDIT: Just managed to find the reset buttons, which was part of the problem. It’s making encouraging noises and heating up, which it wasn’t before. Waiting…Paul
Here’s the water matrix. Cleaner than it wsa, but note the right hand chambers are empty. When I first fitted it , I hand’t quite fitted the middle tube (with the white fitting and clip) properly, which I’m guessing is the feed. As far as I can tell it’s fitted correctly now, but if that’s where water is supposed to come in, it isn’t happening.
Secondly, the float chamber. There’s no water in there. When I re-checked this, I don’t think I’d fitted the switch correctly, but it does seem to be correctly fitted now. If you move the red float thing, something clicks and I can hear a relay or similar.
