thanks for that jim, cleaned out the impeller didnt seem to be much in there, we will see, running at the moment! I can drain the water by turning dial to end of rinse cycle, there was a slight kink in output hose which I have rectified, is the pump controlled by a sensor/level swich or by a timer?

I have the same erattic problem too, does draining cure the problem? What should I be looking for?
