Yes, me too. If I thought the £799 Miele was similar quality to a £1599 one but with no bells or whistles then I’d buy one. I don’t suppose anyone outside of Miele really knows what corners have been cut to achieve the lower price point machine. There’s really only cost of labour and quality of components to play with.
We’re all doomed, doomed I say ! Why is it that so many products in the past were superior to their modern equivalents ?!

ParticipantThanks for the reply Joe Soap. I find it really depresssing that quality is “going backwards” – you would think that as we advance the quality would actually improve! I would love to be able to buy (and pay a premium price for) a top quality basic Miele machine with absolutely no bells or whistles !!

ParticipantThanks for your help Dave. As the machine is working fine (other than this load issue) will just “leave it”. The brushes were replaced by a BG engineer as I have the machine “covered” by them.
Just out of interest, as the machine is 18 years old, and the need did arise to replace it, would you recommend another Miele ? I am aware that the “general view” is that the quality of all brands has deteriorated so would be interested to hear your general thoughts on current machines.HALIBUT
ParticipantPlease see pages 17/18 of the link regarding selecting programme before loading. Will just carry on as we always have !

ParticipantHi Dave and thanks for the reply. Not possible to say as we have, for many years, actually been loading the drum before selecting a programme which does not “bring up” the load indicator display. It was only after the new brushes were fitted that I decided to consult the operating instructions and do washing “by the book” ( select programme before loading drum) which revealed the issue. Machine works fine, as it always has, by loading the drum before selecting a programme. (The brushes were replaced following F53 error code).
