ParticipantI got the motor out, just needed a bit more force to pull it free.
The machine is nearly 4 years old.

ParticipantThanks. I have attempted to remove the motor, there’s two bolts that have been removed and the motor won’t budge. Should it just ‘pull off’?
If I can remove it I’m happy to replace the motor.

ParticipantHi,
With the belt detached and looking at the motor spindle, the motor tried but didn’t move at all. The. After a around 10 seconds it tried again and didn’t move at all. After another 10 seconds the motor spun like crazy, and I then turned it off.
I powered on and tried again and it didn’t budge again.
The drum seems to spin feely and smoothly with no belt attached.

ParticipantThe carbon brushes are fine, and are still in contact and have plenty of ‘wear’ left.
Any other ideas? It sounds as though a switch activates, the motor tries to turn, then repeats this cycle 2-3 times before giving up.

ParticipantThanks again. Will have a look.
If it’s not the brushes what else is it likely to be?

ParticipantThanks Dave. They do have carbon brushes.
There’s a spare part listed for them. Are they relatively easy to fit?
Happy to gamble that they’re the root of the fault for the price of the part!

ParticipantThere’s a very slight quiet click, though not sure I’d call it a click, every inch or so. I’ve spun the drum before this problem happened, even when brand new and I think the slight noise it does make has always been there and ‘normal’?
No apparent wobble. The centre point remains solidly in place during revolutions.

ParticipantThank you Dave.
Turning the drum by hand doesn’t click. There is a nylon sounding rub, presumably the belt making a normal noise?
