That is the full list, sadly the Indesit electronics in these machines are known to be very flaky and are often taken out by faults elsewhere. 🙁

Thanks for your further reply. Looks like I reached the limits of my DIY skills. Time to find a local expert, methinks?

Based on your feedback re Indesit electronics, I’m not inclined to get another Indesit appliance any time soon!

Splendid, thanks! I’ll report back in due course.

Sorry about the delay in sending feedback – I was away over Easter. Managed to install the new door lock yesterday, with a little moral and practical support from a friend, and everything looked perfectly OK, until the door didn’t open again after the second wash. Unplugged the machine to release the door, started another washing cycle, which seemed to progress OK, but now the dreaded F06 error is back 😮
    Now what? ❓

Thanks – only just saw your reply. I’ll try and do it myself first. Could end in tears, of course 😆

From that serial number the part listed above is correct.

Thanks! I didn’t realise “kwatt” had already sent a link to the correct part – thanks for that.

Are there any instructions anywhere for how to access the lock for replacement, or is it obvious somehow, just from looking at the door properly?

I like your tag line, buy the way, and “kwatt’s” too 8)

    It did, thanks.

Photo of ‘nameplate’ sticker attached. Sorry it’s a bit blurred.

Your previous message seemed to imply that I may be able to do the repair myself?

Errrrr, possibly over 11 years working for Hotpoint and 37 years self employed in the same trade might be one reason 😆

You need to be careful as there are two different door locks fitted which might explain why you couldn’t find an emergency door release.

If you can give me all the numbers from the sticker inside the door I should be able to give you the correct part number.

    Thanks!

Methinks we have a catch-22 situation. Dare I ask (again) how to open the door, with F06 on the display now?

iadom wrote:F06 is a door lock error, the wiring plug to the door interlock is very weak and often burns out. A new door lock and replacement of the poor quality wiring plug with three separate AMP tags should sort it.

Thanks for your further helpful reply. How do you know all this stuff? It certainly isn’t in the so-called manual I have (see my previous message). The only error code mentioned there is F05.

Shame it happened just a few days after the 1-year warranty elapsed 🙁

Anyway, it looks like I have to get a local expert involved for the repair, right? Can you recommend someone in the Leicester area?

iadom wrote:Have you read the bit in the manual about the emergency door release which you can find behind the lower kick strip, front right. Remove the mains plug first and leave it a minute.
If that won’t release it then the doorlock itself, door handle or even the main pcb could be faulty.

Thanks for your helpful reply. Looks like I have an ‘inferior’ version of the manual, which consists of a 16-page PDF file containing “Instructions for use”. No sign of an emergency door release description. Is there a better manual?

No sign of an emergency door release mechanism behind the lower kick strip either. All I can see there is a screw cover for what I thought was a filter, but it looks like it’s just drain opening, without an actual filter.

Still, pulling the mains plug somehow seems to have released the door, i.e. I was able to open it. However, something is clearly amiss, as evidenced by the fact that shortly after I started a new washing cycle, the machine stopped and now shows a frantically flashing error code F06. Again, no sign of this error code in my apparently inferior manual…

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for your reply. I was able to press the door handle alright, but the door refused to open. In the meantime, there has been a further development – see my reply to “iadom”.
