Thanks Dave, spoke to Hoover and was quoted 119 for an engineer (1 visit) whether they could fix or not (still have parts guarantee but not labour ) or £178 for a years cover and get it fixed under insurance! Was contemplating replacing the heater element myself but sounds tricky. not sure if it is worth that or buying another dryer that is cheaper.
