OK, increased the budget again and bought a Miele G 1140 SC Dishwasher from http://www.appliance-world.co.uk/.

Excellent service, right down to the delivery guys who brought it in an unwrapped it and talked me through the various pipes and installation requirements.

Also downloaded the extended warranty form from the Miele web site so now we have five years worth of cover for no extra cost 😀

We’ve been using the machine for a few weeks now, and it produces excellent results. I have seen a few negative comments about the time it takes to load the cutlery basket in the top of the cabinet, and whilst it does take longer, the unloading is so much quicker since all like cutlery can be lifted out in one go and placed back in the appropriate drawer section. So what you lose on the loading, you gain back on the unloading.

    And it’s soooooo quiet 8)

Many thanks to all who contributed directly to my post, and those whose other comments elsewhere about this brand led to make the leap to this machine.

    Cheers 😀

    Thanks again.

Local retailers for built-in appliances appear to be very thin on the ground in the Basingstoke area 🙁 Unless of course I’m looking in the wrong places 😳

Currys was the only one that displayed built in appliances and none of those were Neff.

Tried Reading Warehouses (actually in Tadley), Currys, Comet, Homebase, MFI.

The Neff web site shows 3 retailers, two of them in the above list, which isn’t encouraging, so I’ll try the outstanding one, “Two Guys” and see what they have.

    Cheers
    Hyde.

    Many thanks for the info.

Moving the plumbing isn’t an option as it would require me to dismantle one third of our kitchen units to get anywhere near each end of the plumbing run.

Our dead dishwasher is a free standing 45cm model, so I was hoping to get something full size this time.

I had found that my budget was perhaps a little too low. Accordingly I found this machine:-

    http://www.sainsburyskitchenappliances.co.uk/productinformation.aspx?ExtCampaign=AffiliateWindow&ID=3630&ExtCampaign=AffiliateWindow

The Neff S5453 looks to fit the dimensions I have, but again, no idea what size crockery it will accommodate, or the reputation of this manufacturer.

    Any experience here?

In addition is there a price break at which, generally speaking, you get a much better machine?

    Many thanks
    Hyde.
