Thanks for the information. As the pump seemed to be otherwise ok i’ve just glued the impeller on on the shaft with some araldite. It seems to be emptying ok now.

    Cheers

    Sorted, washer is working again.

I entered washer details on http://www.repairaction.co.uk/ and bosch replaced control module. It was the first one the guy had been to replace that had actually blown up. From what he said i think the power supply wasn’t adequately rated on the original modules.

As i said above guy who came originally had left us with a supposedly replacement module. He was clearly lying/ignorant when he said it was suitable for our washer. If anyone can make use of it please contact me as i believe it is in working order. the label reads:

    SIEMENS 5WK57829
    10.05.05 21 44 Typ G.2
    5 600 048 694 AI 2.1.01

    Martin,

thanks very much for the reply!

regarding free recall you seem to imply that we couldn’t take that up anymore? Is there anything to stop me putting everything back together with the blown control module and giving Bosch a call?

Assuming getting bosch to replace it under recall is not an option:
The guy did try two different modules one of which the times for the cycles were correct after i’d configured it by holding buttons on startup etc. However the longer washes still got stuck on one minute. This made me think there was something in addition to the faulty controller. Perhaps something got damaged by controller blowing?

As your footer/signature suggests I searched through as many of the 1min topics i could find before i posted originally but i must have missed the turbidity sensor so i’ll look into that while i have the washer in bits. If that’s something that only comes into play on the proper wash cycles (ie not rinse or quick35) then this may be the answer!

It would be nice to know if configuring a control unit just changes the times/temps for the cycles or whether it alters anything fundamental eg. config for washer A the temp sensor input is on connector 1 but if configured as washer B the sensor input is assumed to be on connector 2 by the controller.

    thanks again

    Re: Bosch exxcel SGS43A18GB/38

I’ve waffled too much in the original post so here’s a more concise version (can’t seem to edit the original):

Think our dishwasher has the ‘1min problem’. I’ve read through as many of the topics I can find and the three usual problems seem to be:
    1) gunked matrix or inlet tube/impellor
    2) blown heater
    3) Controller PCB fault (although might not be correct replacement part)

I think i’ve ruled them out as..
    >Matrix is clean (no debris were found)
    >level sensor (red cylinder) is not activating and sufficient water seems to be inside (covers square metal filter grate in base) if i stop it mid cycle.
    >Cleaned hose running to impellor from level sensor and checked impellor is clear (no debris were found )
    >Looked over ‘new’ controller for dry joints and can’t see anything suspicious.
    >Measured heating element 23 ohm when disconnected so not blown.

Be greatly appreciated if anyone can suggest anything else to try? Also if anyone can confirm that this is a suitable replacement controller:
Original broken unit. yellow label, white enclosure:
    SIEMENS 5WK57804
    10 11 02 10 40 01
    5 600 048 683 AI01
supposedly suitable replacement. white label, half black/half white enclosure:
    SIEMENS 5WK57829
    10.05.05 21 44 Typ G.2
    5 600 048 694 AI 2.1.01

    Cheers,
    Ian
