ParticipantI have the screws from my original pump. I’ll order the one in that link. In the meantime, just curious. I read this on your instruction area: The problem with induction pumps was that they leaked, as well as the usual pump faults like being noisy or not draining, from the centre seal of the main shaft on the pump behind the impeller. This was billed as one of the biggest reasons for the switch to magnetic type pumps
This is obviously my problem. Is there some reason that I cannot just glue that seal down with debhor so it won’t leak?

ParticipantUnavailable everywhere, but is this what I’m looking for?

ParticipantAnd does it matter that the ‘Askoll’ replacement says 34W and my pump says 90W? That’s what I’m getting when searching for the C00273281, etc.

ParticipantMy pump doesn’t look anything like this:

ParticipantYou’re assuming that English is my primary language (it is….lol). Anyway, after looking on the internet, it appears that finding a new old stock replacement for this is going to be a non runner. Just for the heck of it, I took the outer cover that holds the inlet and outlet hoses. It doesn’t look like there much inside to actually leak. Behind the cover, under the little ‘propeller’ is a large black rubber gasket, where the circumference of it sits is a small channel. From the discoloration and rust on the bottom screw holding the cover on, it looks like this gasket was leaking from the bottom. I cannot see a way to take this gasket off, as it’s behind the propeller, and I don’t readily see a screw or any way of removing that. Was that gasket supposed to be glued around the rim to the plastic piece behind it? (It wasn’t). The electrics on the pump were working (at least for now). Have you ever repaired one of these things? Maybe Debhor around the rim of the gasket? Any ideas (or any suggestions to get a new pump?? My concern about something aftermarket is having to modify it to install it properly)….????

ParticipantAnd just to prove how stupid I am (as though you haven’t already guessed this), I got the service manual for this machine. There is a bottom panel, in the back, that comes off with three screws, so that the pump is right there to remove and hook up. All these shenanigans that I did, coming in and down through the larger back panel, where I couldn’t really reach the pump, was idiotic. Anyway, this will make it easier to replace the pump, as I assume whatever I’ll get would be aftermarket, so not a direct fit, etc.

ParticipantYou know, I really shouldn’t be let out of the house without someone in a white coat with me. Sorry about the above photo….that’s actually the one that I replaced some years ago, for my US top loader. This is the pump for the. Hotpoint:

I’ve even found the part number. 160225. Of course, in googling that, no one has it.inisfad
ParticipantI suppose I need the whole thing, if possible…the pump part and the electrical part??

ParticipantSee if this works: https://i.postimg.cc/28gGS4vj/FE7-B2293-D2-C9-41-E2-B9-AF-C78-BEDA40935.jpg
That’s my pump.inisfad
ParticipantGot it. It’s a Plaset made in Italy. I will say that, if I’m able to find a replacement, it’s not going to be easy to put this back in. I can’t find a model number on this….do you have any idea as to a replacement?

ParticipantHmmm…..so, maybe tilt the machine forward to loosen the pump, and THEN undo the hose that I can’t reach???
inisfad
ParticipantI’ve already gotten the easy hose off, where my pliers can easily reach. However, the part of the hose clamp for the outlet drain is facing away from me. It’s just next to the metal panel so that I cannot reach it from the side, but must reach it from above. I can’t do that with my pliers. I’ve tried channel locks, but I cannot get them to close enough to loosen the clip. It would have been far easier if the part of the clamp that you need to close would be facing me, rather than facing the panel with only a few inches between the clip and the panel. I don’t understand how to get in there….????

ParticipantAnd I need some kind of pliers or something that comes out at a 90 degree angle? Naturally, the clamp for the drain hose is facing away, toward the panel. It also appears that the pump is attached to the machine from the bottom, where I’ll have to flip the machine on its back to get the pump out. I’m too stubborn for my own good, it seems…..

ParticipantI’m also reading that the pump can get ‘clogged’?? There is no filter on this machine. Is clogging an issue? It looks like the pumps are only about GBP30 or so. How difficult is it for me to get at this pump (I suspect perhaps the hardest part will be getting those clamps off the hoses that if been there for 40 years perhaps??)
inisfad
ParticipantWell, that was easy. I took the back off the machine. It’s the pump that’s leaking. Not the hoses going to and from it, but directly under the pump. Coincidence that this should start after I repaired the suspension? And just how easy (and expensive) is replacing the pump? Is it something like pump seals or does the whole pump get replaced??
