ParticipantFair enough Dave. I’ll concede defeat and see if it possible to buy a new one. Thanks for all your help and advice.

ParticipantIs there a way to check the compressor? I measured the resistance between the 3 pins and they agree. See my original messages.
The new compressor and replay would cost £119 but I can but a new decent Hoptpoint for £199.

ParticipantI wired it up according to my drawing and nothing happens except it hums for about 10 secs and stops.
One of the things I read about replacing a relay is that you should replace the overload as well. What do you think?Jackamus
ParticipantCheers I’ll give it a go and let you know what happens.
Jackamus
ParticipantDo you mean like the attached drawing? https://www.dropbox.com/s/scdefxqrkehhjhk/Relay209.jpg?dl=0

ParticipantIts becoming clearer now. I need to connect a wire from the nut to the right pin of the compressor but what about those 2 wires (brown and white) that go to the thermostat?
Jackamus
ParticipantHi Dave,
I’m not having a lot of luck! Can you draw a diagram showing how the mains, the 3 wires from the thermostat, and the 2 wires from the capacitor should connect together? If I connect in the way you describe then the 2 wires (white and brown) appear to be spare.

ParticipantThanks Dave. I’ll check it out. If I have any problems I’ll come back to you if I may.

ParticipantOK. Here is a Dropbox link to the diagram. https://www.dropbox.com/s/fvq2tnog5jupwet/Relay{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}20diagram.jpg?dl=0
Can you tell me where I connect the mains-in wires to this diagram? I do have a starter capacitor.

ParticipantHi Tony,
I have now got one of these relays but I have a problem of how to connect as I have two spare mains wires. How do I attach their wiring diagram if I appear not to have enough file space in this message? Perhaps you could advise?Jackamus
ParticipantHi Tony,
Thanks for the advice. I’ll take the risk and order one.Jackamus
ParticipantI do realise that it is a crap model! All that happened is it stopped working. When switched on it would buzz quietly for about 15 seconds then there would be a click(relay?) and it would stop buzzing. I removed the relay and measured the compressor resistance. The relay appears to be a solid state version and it rattles which I believe is a tale-tale sign that it is had-it. Is this helpful?
