ParticipantRe: Screeching noise at the start of spin on GW609
Hi, it’s me again. We haven’t gotten around to fixing this yet. I found that if I filled the machine with enough water and allowed it to agitate a little, then the noise didn’t happen. Then I changed back to not wasting the water and just spinning the clothes. Worked OK for a while, then the noise started again. It would seem to me to be coming from the pump as the bowl doesn’t move at the start of the pump out phase. You’ve said that the stator might need replacing. Do you think this is the way to go? I’m in Geelong, Victoria. Can any Australian members recommend a repair person in this area?

Pardon the stupid question, but how do you get to the guts of this machine? Do you turn it over and to which side? Or doyou go in from the top somehow? We were expecting to see a back panel. :stupid:

Fixed!!!! For future reference this switch comes out easier than some lego blocks come apart. I lifted the corner with a fingernail and then levered the switch out with a knife. Couldn’t have been easier.

The switch wiggles a bit but It doesn’t look like it would be easy to pull out. I don’t want to use much force. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Edit: I’m told you have to break the switch to get it out because it has some locking things that lock it into the hole!!!! And i’ve been quoted $40 ish for the part. Does this sound on the level?

BUMP!! So how do you change the switch? Does it pull out from the front or do you go in from the back? what is the part number???

ParticipantRe: benchtop dishwashers
Thanks for your help guys, that’s some good advice to go on. At least I have a starting point now. I see a lot of advertising for a Thor benchtop. Have you had any experience with this company? I think the slimline ones probably would fit the bill though.
