    Re: F&P LW085, Fault Code 050

Problem was a reed switch going intermittently faulty. It appears that after a few days of sitting, the switch closed and the washing machine would start, but as soon as the lid was lifted it would stick open. I guess it was also the cause of the rapid on/off behaviour, with the switch being not closed properly.

Anyway, for anyone that might run across this in the future, I found it by going into diagnostic mode by holding water temp down and pressing the on button, then adjusting the spin LEDs until only the medium speed LED was lit. There will then be an LED on if the lid is open. This should go on/off when you raise and lower the lid. I could raise the lid, watch the LED go on, lower the lid with the LED staying on, then giving the top deck a sharp knock and the LED would turn off.

It appeared to start working for a second after being unplugged at the wall for a few hours. It started filling the tub for about 10 seconds with cold water until I lifted the lid. This stopped it and it never came back.

I turned the power off at the wall for a minute then tried again, this time it appeared to fill intermittently for about a minute before stopping. I advanced the program to spin and it started pumping out, but with the pump turning on and off randomly for about a minute before stopping and never going again.

Leaving me a bit baffled, here. Still showing the cold solenoid valve fault code.

Are there any sensors that could be faulty and causing this behaviour without flagging an error code? Water level sensor perhaps?

    Re: F&P LW085, Fault Code 050

I left the cold solenoid unplugged while turning it on and it now flags the Cold Valve Fault as the fault code, even though I’ve plugged it back in. I’ve tried turning the machine on and getting it to go through a normal cycle, but the fault remains the same (nothing happens, basically) and the fault code is now stuck at 49, cold valve fault.

Is there some specific procedure to reset the fault codes?

    Re: F&P LW085, Fault Code 050

Have found a fault code listing saying that apparently the LW085 is a ‘Phase 4’ machine, and that code 50 is ‘Hot Valve Faulty’.

I’d already checked both the valves so I double checked the code and my resistance on the valves. Both valves read 14.4 ohms and the code is definitely correct.

I tried switching the wires on the hot/cold solenoids to see if it changed the code, but it stayed as code 50.

I’ve now got a link to an official F&P service manual for Phase 6 machines, including a list of detailed fault codes for phase 1 through 6, but don’t know if it’s against forum rules to post?
