Re: Fisher and Paykel Smartdrive GW603

To be perfectly honest not sure I will replace the switch. Thinking of upgrading the machine to one of the new 8 litre F&P models with the very low agitator – not sure I want to buy a part for the old GW603 if I am getting rid of it in the next few weeks.

OK well thanks for your advice – I cut the blue and black wires near where they connect to the control board, pared them back a little then twisted them together and covered with electrical tape.

    Machine now working perfectly!

I think this is the service manual for my machine

Is part 17 and 18 the lid sensor?

Re: Fisher and Paykel Smartdrive GW603

What I am guessing is that the black and blue pair of wires running out of the right most 4 pin connector control the lid sensor.

I am assuming if I cut them and then twist them together, it will bypass the sensor??

ANother pic shows how they run towards the front of the machine – the rest of the wires all seem to head down at the back so thats why I’m guessing these 2 run to the lid sensor which I am assuming is at the front of the machine?

    Hi Penguin

    Thanks for your reply

If it is the out of balance or lid switches, what to do next?

I can see a blue and black wire running from a 4pin plug in the controller unit to the front right hand side of the machine – I assume these wires are connecting to the lid sensor, probably at the front of the machine??

The 4 pin plug has 2 other wires that seem to run in under the controller – coloured yellow and black from memory?

How would I short out the black and blue wires? – I am assuming cut them both, twist them together, and cover with electrical tape?

Unit powers on but wont start if I just disconnect the 4 pin connector (ie. same problem as it has when 4 pin connector is connected)

I think I may have the same problem with my GW603

Where do I find the lid and out of balance switches, and when I do, how do I short one out?? (Sorry but not a very technical person)
