Yes, I’d seen the helpful page about that, and indeed the Askoll motor had already been replaced. But on closer investigation, if I short together the right lines on the PCB, it runs fine. Two transistors between the IC and the edge connector are also fine. It’s the signal from the IC that fails to get generated (and there is perfect connectivity from the IC pin onwards).
So this time I’m afraid it is the IC.
