Thanks for your reply…
I didn’t know that I always thought of them like a fuse. I live and learn…
It’s right at the back inbetween the two ovens, so I doubt it’s protecting the timer. Still there being no continuity through it and removal seemingly fixing it would suggest it’s buggered.

This is very similar, but has the wrong number on it.

Martin,
I appreciate the advice, I really do, but you must see that there was a degree of ambiguity and contradiction in your advice. The change of tone to that of a derogatory nature was disappointing and my genuine attempt to clarify things was not met as intended.George,
As it turns out the issue was the bottom oven element, a short from the core to earth. I was surprised this caused a trip when the element was not being called upon but hey there you go. Thanks for your input and for your concern. Both,
People like you offer a real service to people all over the country (and further afield I’m sure) thanks.Cheers

We’ll to be fair, my statement above is me reasoning that it would not be an element.
I”m not here to argue, just after a bit of advice, but you’ve hardly been clear. To paraphrase…
“It won’t be an element at fault, now you just need to find out which one?”
Doesn’t make much sense mate. Woo hoo to yoo too!

Sorry, I wasn’t trying to be funny.
I really thought that the element would be isolated front the circuit somehow when it was in fan only mode and as it trips then, I thought it must be something else. Why would a blown element trip an oven when it’s not in use?
I like a challenge and don’t mind getting into things a bit.

Sorry if I’m missing something but…
What do you actually think that it may be?

I doubted it was the thermo
Fair enough, I did say mechanical, I guess I was trying to say I know how to make sure I don’t give myself a shock.
Would it be safe to say that, as I am running fan only, the elements are not likely at fault either?

Thanks,
How would I go about testing the thermostat?
Could that still be tripping it when I have it set to fan only?
(I’m a Mechanical Engineer and am confident that I can keep myself safe.)
