The unit won’t move – well I couldn’t get it to budge! But I did manage to force the door open from the side with a lever. So plates recovered!
So now the latch. It looks OK. I can’t see any broken parts. I even shut the door again to test it. Yes, it got stuck again (and levered it off again!). It feels like it is just really stiff. But I suspect you’re going to tell me that the latch mechanism is broken all the same. Is it a mechanical or electrical fault?
If I do need a new latch could you give me an indication of the sort of cost for a replacement part and whether it is reasonably straightforward to fix? Oh and where could I get one?
