Ok I finally got back to work on this. The reason the sheet metal was added was because the element tray was damaged when element shorted.
the metal above element is warped.
prior owner said it was to hot. So I’m going to wire it up and check it.
I don’t know if element was a generic. The part looks right. I don’t know how to check it.
should I order the damaged tray and upper warped panel and insulation

can i test with a meter before i hook up power? thermostat?

i dont see my other post but element is correct on lower. its been monkey rigged with sheet metal. stove isnt wired so element tests with meter. what next help

its not wired up. ive checked for continuity and upper and lower have that un hooked. at some point the lower has been changed. im not sure it was correct as it looks like someone made a cover out of sheet metal.
im going to see what number it is. lady said it was running hot on left oven. then went out. repair said element. no breaks help. i can send picts of monkey work
