Re: Siemens Washing Machine WXL 120GB/01 How to remove top

    Hi,

    Thanks for the replies.

I have undone the two back screws and the lid will not move back at all. It will not even lift at the back.

I was just thinking it may make it lighter to move the machine if I remove the weights. Obviously if there is a possibility that it will ruin it or cause problem re-fitting then best to leave.

It weighs a ton though !

    Thanks

    JM 🙂

Siemens Washing Machine WXL 120GB/01 . Transport – Moving

    Hi,

When transporting the Washing Machine is it necessary to re-fit the bolts.

What if the machine has been transported without the transport bolts. What damage can be done.

Also to transport the machine, is it easy to remove the concrete blocks to make it lighter for moving. Or would that cause problem later to re-fit. Or cause damage moving without the concrete blocks.

    Thanks

    JM

Re: WANT A METAL TUB TO COMBAT SMELL!

    Hi Richie,

Find which machine you like and then enquire here or ask the manufacturers.

Meantime try some white vineger. Just a table spoon with your washing.

Or use the linescale removers for washing machine. Do a hot wash empty. Check with your manual or company which one you can use.

May be the inlet pipe is clogged with muck.

Siemens Bosch Washing Machine Motor Part No. 144797 Wan

    Hi,

I meant to add that on my existing motor the following numbers are printed :

    151 600 00 . 11

    B199 01 37520

    PBT 031.60012

There are quite a few numbers. Perhaps they refer to different parts of the motor.

Bosch use the Part No. 144797

Also not sure if the original part has been superseded by the Part No. 144797.

    Thanks

    Re: Hot and cold fill

    Hi,

I was also surprised to see that new machines are cold fill only for Siemens.

I have always preferred the hot cold fill as the gas prices were cheaper.

I understand that sometimes the hot water does not reach the machine. However if the nearby sink etc is using hot water then some hot water would get to the machine.

We have a combination boiler. So it takes a while before the hot water starts coming through.

    Thanks

    Iadom,

    I was dreading that.

The actual machine seems very sturdy and in good condition.

However not worth buying a new motor.

    Thanks

Re: Siemens Washing Machine WXL 120GB/01 Not Spinning

    Hi,

    Washing Machine Saga continues.

I replaced the brushes. Fit them the right way round.

Tried the spin programme first. There was a popping sound after few seconds. Like a firecracker. Smelt slight burning. It then worked fine and the drum went round and the programme completed.

I tried a rinsing programme and that worked fine. There may have been a slight spark and popping sound initially.

Then I put some clothes in and tried a short wash. There was a low popping sound after few seconds. Then the whole programme worked fine and the spin went fast at the end as usual.

Recently, I tried another short wash. It started off fine and then went to take out the clothes, I found that the clothes were very wet.

Checked and tried the spinning programme and the drum will not move at all. Tried another programme and same happened. On the spinning programme there was a noise for a while and then from 11 minutes it went quickly to Zero .

Not sure what it can be now.

    Any ideas please ?

    Thanks

Re: Siemens Washing Machine WXL 120GB/01 Not Spinning

    Thanks , Spanishwhite,

    Thanks for the reply.

Gave it a huge heave with one hand to see if it will move and the whole thing fell out suddenly. Scratched my hand on the plastic in the process.

Should have put something underneath the motor to catch the fall.

One of the rubber grommet which was at the back came out with the motor. I suppose I should take it off the motor and fit it back on to the drum side.

Got the brushes out which are worn out to 1 cm. Thank you. 🙂

On one side the carbon brush was stuck and at first would not come out.

And on the other side even when I slid the clip right to the other side , the clip was difficult to come out. Had to push it hard to get the grove aligned in place to move the clip out.

Thank you all for the kind help.

Re: Siemens Washing Machine WXL 120GB/01 Not Spinning

    Hi,

Thank you all for the help.

    I have so far managed to ;

    Get the cover off.

Belt off ( seems fine )

Wire terminals disconnected. There was a whit plastic wire tie which I had to cut to separate the connectors from the motor.

Unscrewed the two nuts/ bolts which were surrounded by white plastic washer at the front of the motor.

Now I am not sure how I can pull the motor off. It will not budge.

    Thanks 🙂

Re: Siemens Washing Machine WXL 120GB/01 Not Spinning

Thanks iodom for the reminder and the link.

So it could be the brushes. I’ll see if I can access them.

Is it possible to know what length they should be.

Also what else can it be. Anything else I should be looking out for.

Also if I switch the machine on and off, do I have to wait for a while before touching the motor. Does it retain electricity and is it a hazard like some electric equipment.

    Thank you for the help.

    Take care.
