I just tested it now and what happened is.. I turned on the grill with the left switch and turned the right switch to max, it heated up for 5 minutes and cut out as though up to temp, it then cuts back in after 5 minutes and so on..
This looks more likely temp control related does it not?Also worth noting is when the grill has cut out I try turning the grill switch off and back on with nothing happening.

Yes i think it is iadom, there are 2 controls one on the left controls ovan temp until you pass the 8 o clock position it then clicks to a position that turns on the grill. The right hand control controls the grill temp, when turned on the grill initially comes on, it then cuts out and sometimes when i fiddle with the temp control it reheats for seconds before cutting out again!

PS i think the model number in the subject is wrong, I cant find the number on my unit so i used google images but after closer inspection noticed that the model i found is very close to mine but the controls work slightly differently so mine will be an older model to that. I suspect the thermostat to be similar though.
