    Thanks for your advice. I’m sure your are right that it is a wiring problem. I’ll try testing the wires for resistance ( with the power off) and if that doesn’t locate the problem, I’ll give up.

    Thanks for replying. I fitted a new pump after I cleaned the filter and checked the pipes were not blocked and was certain the old pump was not running. I thought I’d been pretty thorough!
    Can you tell me what to try next? All the DIY guides I’ve read say it will be either a blockage or a faulty pump 99.9 per cent of the time.
