    Hi thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I threw away the old seal as I assumed the seal was a standard part on indesit machines with a 35mm shaft. I think it’s disgusting that these manufacturers make machines to all of these supposed eco standards with their A+++ energy ratings yet the machine is pretty much scrap after a couple of years. Our machine is just over 2 years old, and looking at the corrosion on the shaft and bearing housing, it has likely been leaking for quite a while.

    Since the machine is essentially scrap now, I will probably carefully remove the brass collar and use the supplied seal. Hopefully may get a few months from the machine but will definitely keep in mind that I’ll likely be replacing the machine in the not too distant future.

    Do you have any recommendations for machines that are more servicable and better made than the hotpoint/indesit rubbish?
