Re: CHILD LOSES ARM IN W/M ACCIDENT

Absolutely tragic. One does not know the whole story as to what exactly happened, but it just emphasises the need to have proper training on product repair and electrical safety, not to cut corners under any circumstanses. What could the possible cause be on this one?
Bi passed interlock? did the door break at the hinge end leaving the door pecker in place and interlock still energised? only time will reveal what realy happened. If indeed it was total incompetence on the engineers side, there will be severe penalties imposed on him and repercussion within the appliance service industry as a whole I fear, probably in the shape of stringent certification such as there is with gas safe. better late than never. 🙁

Re: Has anyone heard of The Appliance Academy

    Thank you Martin and K,

Firstly, let me clear up the up front fee bit. We operate a first come first served basis as we only take 8 students per course. The number of students is limited to enable the instructors to give 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} to each student. The fee is payable with the registration documents to confirm the students commitment to attend the course and reserve a place. Like any other business we need bums on seats to survive and pay our way. As for the accreditation question, watch this space. Its on its way, but as all matters of this nature, you need time and plenty of money. We hope that starting this Academy will bring much needed new blood into our industry.
I hope this answers some of your questions, if not I am always available to talk to you if you call me on 01279 445545.

    best regards

    John S 😀

    Hi All,

I thought I had better enlighten you guys regarding Appliance Academy before anyone listens to gossip and works themselves up into a “Put them down frenzy”. Visit our website and all will be revealed. Those who wish to gossip about something they know nothing about and without actualy getting the correct info regarding us, just pick up the phone and ask Its that simple. Its quite sad that some of our colleques in this profession have become so rude. perhaps they need a little training themselves.. 😕 ( Grumpy old engineers).
    Best regards

    Wow Lee! 😯
8 – 10 completed jobs per day! impressive. You must do your rounds in an artic to carry all the parts to completed that many in one day. Anyone else completing that many I wonder. Unless you only work on one make and one model….. 😆

    Re: DSG/RepairCare Rate Cuts

    Quick tot up,

    Call £30.00
    Minus engineers cost £8.00
    Minus fuel £2.00
return visit if parts ordered £10.00

This leaves £10.00. Time to flip burgers as Kwatt said. Does make you wonder how some engineers manage to accept this. Figures above are fictional but fairly realistic.

What would happen if ALL repairers said no thanks, minimum charge is £40 take it or leave it?. What would the Service providers do?, close shop and go home……… 😯

    Re: JTM again!

Gents, the original question was have any of you out there experienced any difficuties with JTM payments….The responces received are more than adequet to answer my question, so Why are we bickering amongst ourselves regarding other agents and providers. Surely our personal experiences with any work providers should and quite rightly be made public to all repairers on a separate thread so as to give them a choice and an overview as to wether or not they want to work for them. I do have outstanding issues with JTM, but my comments are purely of a personal experience with them, and have nothing to do with SF or their agents. K is quite right in stating that we all have a choice as to whom we work for, but the point of this thread is to make our experiences public, so as our fellow engineers do not experience the same problems we have. UKW is a great platform for this sort of debate and provides in my opinion a great insight into our chosen industry….well done.

    Re: british gas

left the esd ranks some years ago, and the electrical training course was a complete farce, get the test wrong, you pass, get anything wrong and you still pass….but it is only a small electrics course, not the full thing. i.e how to change a plug….. 😆

    Re: JTM again!

The issue is why cant they organise their accounts department better i.e linking spares returns, credits etc as unltimately it leads to huge delays in us getting paid. I for one am not prepared to chase them month after month, wait up to 90 day and loger to get paid. As it stands at the moment, I get paid dribs and drabs as and when they manage to link anything together. My bills dont get paid in dribs and drabs! :rolls: Or perhaps its the old cash flow problems that give cause to all the delays, who knows.

    Re: JTM again!

    Sick as a pig!

The saga continues, follow this if u can.
JS: Have you received the parts returns and credited the amount deducted from us yet?
JTM: Yes there is an amount of £1400 to send to you
    A day goes by
JS: Has our cheque been sent yet? and for how much?
JTM: Yes a cheque for £900 will be sent today ( Monday)
JS: Why £900, as you told me a couple of days ago it was £1400!!!!
    JTM: We duducted spares
JS: But we dont have any outstanding spares, all have been used on your jobs, or returned to you!!!!!
    JTM: I will check again.
JS: You said you were going to send it first class on last Monday?
JTM: Half day in accounts no one in to answer my questions.
Pure frustration, 3 months invoices still unpaid in full, and I am sittinng here wondering what else to do.
    Any advice chaps?
The advice I can give anyone thinking of doing work for this bunch..DONT BOTHER. My feeling is that it wont be long before they go to the wall.
Just a personal experience, no slanderous remarks intended ( Biting top lip)
