Thank you very much kwatt and Penguin45 for your quick replies. It does sound like a fairly complicated job (certainly beyond me) so I would definitely call an engineer to look at it.
This next question may be beyond your remit but is there an approximate price that one would expect to pay for such a repair (parts, labour, call out charges etc…) obviously it must vary quite a bit (and depend on what gets replaced) but are we looking at much over 100 – 150 Pounds? (probably!)
With regard to the possibility of buying a new machine, we were thinking of just having a normal (not integrated) one as the one we have is only integrated inasmuch as it has been slid under the worktop (there are no fancy covers on the front or kick boards etc – the builders never put them on I suppose and we never missed them). We were looking at a Candy or Servis for about 260 Pounds. I think the integrated ones seem to be pretty overpriced for what they are.
Well, FYI, news just in – the machine is still running with that sachet thing in it and the water inside is heating up nicely – let’s just hope it drains!
