This answer applies only to the 762 litre French door fridge with an ice maker. Other models may be fixed with this solution but that is only a guess.
My fridge has been driving me crazy with a noise from the fan located behind the ice maker. It only happens when the humidity is very high, ice builds up around the fan and the fan hits the ice causing a loud clacking sound.
The solution is simple, turn off the fridge and open the left door, remove the ice container/dispenser and bag the ice and place it in the freezer compartment if you want to keep it. Place a hair dryer in the cavity where the ice bucket was with the air outlet about half way into the cavity and run the hair dryer on medium to low heat and high fan speed with the door open. Leave it for about 15 to 20 minutes. Remove the hair dryer and replace the ice bucket and turn the fridge on. It should now be working without any fan noise.
