Re: LEC: Model RF109-Fridge Freezer. Fridge Wont Cool

    Dear All,
Due to the total lack of any response, I can only assume I am not using the site as expected/ontended. Then again, if I am indeed at fault,I would have thought at least one of the MANY moderators/experts in this section would at least have taken the time and trouble to put me on the right path.
In addition, this site actually sells spare parts, but potential buyers are advised they cannot supply any technical information re fitting etc, and are accordingly reffered to the appropriate UK Whitegoods forum.
What a waste of time that has turned out to be.

In closing, I will just add, I am a great believer in forums and indeed have profitted and learnt a greaty deal in the uensuing discussions on other sites.

Sadly, this is not the case here with UK whitegoods. It is by far the most unrespponsive, unhelpful set up I have encountered to date.

Needless to say , I will not persue my enquiry any further.

If my experience to date is anything to go by I do not expect any response to this post, but I certainly feel better in expressing my opinion of the prevalent unhelpful attitude.

Re: LEC: Model RF109-Fridge Freezer. Fridge Wont Cool

    Dear All,
In the rather surprising and disappointing lack of response to my query above, I note uk whitegoods are offering the correct thermostat (08262017)@£19.25 + delivery. For further technical info, on this part, not avaiable on the spares site, I am reffered to the forum section here.

Therefore, can anyone at leaat confirm the thermostat flexible capillary tube can simply gently be pullled out from the inside wall of the cabinet, as in other small fridges. In other words it is not secured by any hidden clips.

    Thank you.

    Dear All,
Apologies. THe LEC RF109 is NOT a fridge freezer but only a fridge with a built in 2 star cold section.Since my initial posting I have become aware of a possible universal type stat(RPG 9144) which may fit.
    Is this possible?

    Many thanks.

    Re: Ariston-Margherita A1535

Many many thanks Iadom. Absolutely no offence taken.
I am for my sins a retired TV service engineer. So general fault finding is not unfamiliar to me.Washing machines are the exception though LoL. Many thanks for the error codes. I am beginning to get a better understanding.

Just to repeat, when I select a programme number and press the “On button”,one led lights constantly followed shortly by the second led which locks the door, as explained previously. The machine then will just sit there and do absolutely nothing. No flashing led’s etc as I initially explained.
I will get my test meter out and do some continuity/voltage checks. It may well be worth getting a set of brushes as you suggest. I certainly would not go the expense, given the age of the machine,of replacing the pcb.A new machine would be the best option in the final analysis.

Thank you for your most helpful comments and time to date in replaying to my posts. It is much appreciated I asure you.

    Re: Ariston-Margherita A1535

Thanks Iadom for your prompt reply. Both ends opf the brushes are pretty shiny and not pitted.
When a prograame is selected the RH red neon pulses 2 or 3 times follwede by a a rapid 3 pulses. The LH red meon the come s on indicating the door is locked, which it indeed is.on customer service. I asked him about the codes associated with the machib]ne. It appears 3 rapid pulses indicate a thermistor fault. Presumably this is located on the main pcb.Have you come a cross a thermistor fault? 1 or 2 pulses indicate a motor fault. 5 pulses indicate water blockage. That is what I understood him to say.I may be wrong though.

I am just wondering if, for example, the brushes are defective, would that stop the machine from taking in water? I think it would start filing up but the drum would not rotate. Do you agree?
It would appear to be pointing to a faulty PCB maybe?

    What do you think?
