Re: APM 6842 fridge freezer problem

    hello

    thanks for your reply.

would i be right in thinking that the majority of fridge freezers will defrost during a cold spell in winter (especially overnight when the heating is off) – overnight minimum temperatures often drop to below 10C in houses during the winter and that most people do not actually realise this as during the day with central heating on etc everything has frozen again?

this is totally new to me – my first house, fridge freezer etc and am learning as i go along…..friends i have spoken too have not to their knowledge had such problems.

    thanks

Re: APM 6842 fridge freezer problem

    hi clive

    thanks for your reply.

the engineer came out today (while the fridge freezer was working!!) and has ordered a thermostat but …

he mentioned that it is more probable that it is due to ambient temperature control – the fact the freezer hasnt got its own thermostat – only the fridge and in cold weather the fridge will think it doesnt need to cool and then the freezer defrosts. i think it is once the temperature in the room drops to < 10C.

this could be right as it has been cold and numerous times it has defrosted overnight when the heating is off.

has anyone had a similar problem.

how can i have a fridge feezer which may defrost at any time if the temp drops!? or even defrosts and then freezes again without me knowing …? the engineer suggested buying a heater for the kitchen to the the temp above 10C in cold conditions..

Surely after i have just bought a new f/freezer i am not expected to do that am i? has anyone raised this issue with mfi and got anywhere? i need a fridge freezer to stay on and keep my food safe to eat!

    any thoughts appreciated…

there must be more people that have had this problem and i would be interested to see their outcome with mfi. my kitchen is cool anyway and this would mean it would go into defrost mode more frquently..

    thanks!
    Kennedy
