Tried searching for an engineer, but none in my Area. I am in East Lothian which I just outside Edinburgh however the closest was in Kilmarnock.

Do you know roughly what a repair quote would be around for a compressor fault/replace? Local white goods repair companies on google are charging £40-£45 per hour labour.

    Hi bob,

The machine starts up and makes noises, however there is no freezing and minimal cooling in the unit. The fan doesn’t start unless I do the following:

    1) Unplug the appliance and leave for 30 seconds.
    2) Then plug back in.
    3) Then as soon as you plug it in press and hold the fast freeze button and the quick cool button and keep hold for about 3 seconds then let go.
    4) Then press any of the buttons twice.
    5) Then press the quick cool button and it should display FA
    6) If it does then open the freezer door and see if you can hear the fan running

This makes the fan run in the freezer, however once reset and powered back on the fan does not start to run at all and there is no cold air coming through the vents.

I have already ordered a sensor as it was the cheapest solution to attempt. I have priced the fan motor at £22.85/free delivery and the PCB at £43.99/£3.98 delivery.

Should I just order both, or try one first? We don’t have another fridge freezer to store food in so would like to fix as soon as possible.

EDIT: Just had another look, here’s what I got:

Doing the fast freeze/quick cool test posted above, I get the following:

    1) Top and Bottom fans both running and blowing air.
    2) cold air coming from the coils at bottom (what the fan blows into)
    3) Humming noise from bottom of fridge freezer/ compressor

However, nothing is happening except a humming noise when starting the fridge freezer as normal.

Is this the temperature sensor? I wasn’t sure when I opened up the back panel.
