The ring on the inside does have to be unscrewed to get access. It can be very tight and hard to budge, though.

Dunno what I would have done without this site! I had the exact same problem with my Diplomat ADP 8242. I had the error code that a leak had been detected but thought it was just the playing up so ran through the reset procedure but it happened again. Thought I better check underneath and saw a load of water gushing out!

Managed to pull the dishwasher out and, after some research on this site, took the sides off to located the water softener. I ran a soak wash and saw where the leak was coming from. http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/7177/diplomatadp8242.jpg
To get the matrix (think that’s what it’s called!) off you have to undo the ring on the inside of the washer that has the blue level sector in it. This was a MISSION to get off! It wouldn’t budge no matter how hard I tried with a pretty hefty wrench!
I ended up tightening it to loosen it! Sounds ridiculous but it’s the only way it worked! Anyway, once that was off the rest was easy apart from finding a replacement ‘o’ ring. I had to use a kind of PTFE putty recommended by the guy in B&Q that has blocked all leakages.

I hope this helps someone else save a fortune on call outs or even a new washer!
