Re: ariston margherita or a servis washer

    Hi Mrs B

I have to say I would not touch a SERVIS appliance ever without saying exactly who I work for the ins co that I do work for deals with Servis apps and they are beyond a doubt the one manufacturer that we have the most complaints on. If it does go wrong and the parts are available they are inevetibly on order for a perpetual 10-14 days (we have had one customer whose parts have been on for this amount of time for the last 6 months) So maybe better off with the Ariston but I know nothing about those so it’s your choice, be aware though that the Servis factory in Italy closes for the whole of August so come Sept Oct parts are rare as hens teeth.

    Hi Bryan

Dunno if it was cooling for more than 2 hours as the eng came out first thing on Wednesday and I had only been up for 1/2 hour myself haven’t even had my morning coffee . I know he turned it off and took the freezer apart, I told him what I had done e.g. leaving it for 24 hours etc I do know that the freezer display has been flashing constantly since he turned it off at -19 dunno about the fridge as I didn’t check that. There is only one display panel on these models and you press the REF button or Freezer button to display the temperature and it then defaults to display the freezer temp. Before the eng came out the freezer display was steady (e.g. not flashing) at -18 which is why the eng was a tad confused as when he opened the freezer he could see the water in the ice cube trays as opposed to ice, and it wasn’t running.
I appreciate the 5am call Bryan but we have now forked out £79.00 for an eng from DES to come out and I don’t think the wife wants to throw to much more money at it. (but I don’t want to just dump a 31/2 yr old £450.00 app as when it works it is fantastic)

OK Latest update eng came out on Wednesday, fridge freezer was not working (luckily) when he arrived. He cannot find the fault he knows it’s faulty but doesn’t know why. Now have senior eng coming out next week to have a look but I am not holding out much hope, I may have to end up borrowing my mates van and dumping it at Samsung HQ in Chertsey as it is now beginning to really p*** me off. Wondering if I kick off enough at Samsung whether they will do anything but I doubt it very much. Any ideas guys????
The eng that did come out has quoted me £250.00 IF it’s a regas job and he’s not sure that that is what’s wrong with it, I nearly fainted when he told me that, surely that can’t be right this is a top/bottom fridge freezer not a US style side by side….is this a rip off quote?

    Cheers

    Re: Dodgy SAMSUNG SRL3928B

OK Now i’m stuck, DOMEX unfortunately don’t have an eng in the KT5 area, I’m also confused as we had some stuff in the freezer in the second draw down (below the ice tray and the draw next to it) that was not refreezing now it seems to be refreezing again. although the temperature indicator is still flashing (set for -18 for freezer and 4c for fridge only supposed to flash until it reaches set temp) has been flashing since I turned it back on yesterday. One thing I would say is it is obviously getting to at least Zero as it is freezing the water in the ice cube trays then defrosting at some point.
Now I am really confused is it working or not 😕 ???? agggghhh appliances the bane of our lives donchya think….So anymore ideas, hints tips help suggestions will be gratefully received…..

    Yours Hoping Someone Can Help

    Re: Dodgy SAMSUNG SRL3928B

    Hi there

Thanks for the suggestion, but I turned it off again last night for an hour or so then turned it back on, it then started cooling again in the fridge but again this morning I had little cubes of water instead of ice, so it seems to be working not working working not working etc.

Booked call online last night through Repairs@ so hopefully will get sorted but will keep you all posted.

Once again many thanks for all the tips and hints etc.

    Re: Dodgy SAMSUNG SRL3928B

    Hi there

Followed the advice from Bryan, unfortunately this has not fixed the fault the digital display is flashing (this despite putting it onto SUPER FREEZE).
The freezer did start to freeze water into ice but this morning when I checked it I had little cubes of water in the ice cube trays and the fridge does not seem to be cooling at all. Looks like it may have to be a visit not what you expext on a 31/2 yr old appliance but heyho that’s the way it goes I guess. Unless anyone has any other suggestions.
I did forget to mention in my original post that the sides of the app are getting EXTREMELY hot, I know that this does happen due to the cooling defrost system, but the sides are almost to hot to touch which they have never been before. Any suggestions gratefully received.
