Re: AEG Freezer – Not freezing – buzzer sounding

    Hi,
As I type the freezer is remains ok. But I’m checking it a few times a day in case it decides to go off the rails again. I like the thought that perhaps the de-frost cycle is up the spout.

I’ll be in touch again if the problem returns for advice.

Many thanks for thoughts so far,

    Laurie

Hi, Since leaving the message earlier today I must have read your thoughts. I switched the freezer off for about an hour then switched it on again. The compressor started up, I could hear something circulating and the black radiator on the back started to get warm. After what must be 10 hours the freezer is back into range and on -18C.

From the AEG website I put in the PNC Nr and downloaded their Instruction manual pdf – that is of passing interest.

I’d still like to know what the real problem is – as it could return at anytime. The only things I’ve done – apart from leaving it off for an hour are – vacuum clean and brush all around the back and made sure the gap to the back wall is a few inches rather than perhaps too close.
Your thoughts and knowledge are very welcome.

    Hi Clive,
I traced the blown pcb track to the heater sensor in the heater element unit and found that lime scale from a previously leaking door seal had dripped water into the plug. All now cleaned and the pcb track repaired with 5 amp fuse wire as a precaution. Motor brushes replaced – they had a few months left in them. Also refitted the Triac as others had said this was probably OK if pcb track to it was not blown – as was the case.
All put back and now seems to be working. So far it has run 4 complete wash cycles at 30 and 60 degrees – heater appears to be OK to.
    Thanks for your encouragement.
    Regards,
    Laurie 😀
