Re: ISE Appliances cease trading-who deals with warranty cla

Well this is marvellous news i must say, i’m reading the now worthless warranty at this moment.

We bought the ISE 10 in 2012, mainly for its rock solid warranty, the committment to fair pricing, parts and tech availabilty and the ethos of the units being repairable rather than renewed.

Large amounts of egg over my mug face it would appear, do i feel bent over stupid or what?

We like the product, it does what we want, so impressed were we that i only looked the site up today to order one of the dishwashers and here i find the company has wound itself up, well thanks for nothing.

So what exactly does a mere customer, of seemingly no importance do should the thing pack up, sing?

Some of the comments about sharp practices from some customers are are nothing short of an insult to most of us, the word honour means something in my house and that will be the case long after this sorry mess is forgotten.

Back to Meile for the new dishwasher then by the looks of it, should have gone Meile when i stupidly? believed the sales blurb about the unshakeable warranty.

    Regards

Re: ISE machines. Worth the money?

I suppose we’ve had our ISE10 a couple of years now, hmm no make that three years.

Not been any trouble, and to be fair at the cost i would hope not.

Its really very well made, does all we ask, easy to set, is quiet in use, and the built in timer makes best use of economy 7.

It’s probably no more cost effective than some cheap tat washer replaced every 3 or 4 years, but thats not what we want, we’re prepared to pay for better quality that we can leave in place for hopefully around 15 years, hate disruption.
It replaced an old school Bosch that lasted near enough 14 years, that cost about £450 i think, so in real terms the ISE cost about the same as that.

Our Miele dishwasher is still running ok, but is rusting in places, when it dies that will get replaced with an ISE dishwasher.

Re: Induction v ceramic hob and flush fit

When we moved into our present home 9 years ago we decided to replace the hob (and oven but that’s irrelevent), and we bought DeDeitrich (offer).

Once you’ve got used to them, and learned not to pass the pans over the touch sensors (inadvertantly altering the settings) you soon realise that you’d never go back to a normal cooker hob.

The speed of heating is astounding, there is no loss, the kitchen doesn’t get so hot either as my lovely slaves over the stove.;)

Go all induction, yes it seems a bit expensive having to replace all the cookware, but careful searching round the Amazons etc of the net can combine excellent value with high quality.

The safety and easy cleanability is what puts the icing on the induction cake, a boiled overspill is of no consequence as the only heat on the ceramic surface comes from the base of the pan, so you can barely hurt yourself let alone burn, so wiping the spill off is simple.

You can place your hand on the ceramic beside a pan on full heat and you only feel the heat coming off the pan, it takes a long time for the heat to soak through the ceramic enough to become dangerous, and then it’s a tiny fraction of the heat or danger of a glowing ring.

If you go half and half you are spoiling the real convenience pleasure and safety of a full induction for the sake of a few old pans.

The lack of direct extenal heat to the base also has the benefit of the pans staying clean for years, non of that burned in staining that takes industrial power tools to remove.

Our eating has become much healthier, we found a huge 3 compartment steamer pan, big enough to take all the vegetables for a big family meal for a bargain 35 notes (at a proper old fashioned hardware shop..remember them?), we’ve boiled it dry more times than enough but the quality of these pan’s bases means there’s no damage.

I think we paid about £250 or £300 for the hob (graded appliance IIRC) and it’s not missed a beat, if it packed up tomorrow it doesn’t owe us a penny and we wouldn’t go back to gas or normal electric again.

Edit…we have found Stellar pans to have extremely receptive bases for induction, no doubt some other makes as good but some take a lot longer to heat up.

Re: ISE5 Broken down for weeks and no one seems to care?????

    Kwatt.

Many thanks for your comprehensive reply earlier, explained the situation candidly and much appreciated.

I also appreciate the open discussion here, where agreed, this would not have happened on a forum hosted by those selling/servicing other makes.

Hopefully Mo6 will be up and running Monday.

    Kwatt.

I wasn’t suggesting anyone got the sack over this either.
The local repair agent should have found something for Mo6 to use, you can’t tell me that he doesn’t come across machines that only need a minor repair to make them fully functional in an exceptional standby basis.

I carry full truckloads of machines for recycling every day (up to 80 on a mixed load), at least 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the proper makes of these will end up back in use…that’s good recycling too imo, they are out there because some people have to have shiny new stuff.

No one is suggesting that ISE should have fully functioning all singing all dancing top end machines on standby whislt a customer’s machine is down, but when exceptional circumstances such as this occur…Someone should have picked up the phone and kicked some backside and got a serviceable machine of some sort round to M06’s gaff for her to use.

If i was the repair agent i’d have found something she could wash with whilst waiting the part, 10 year old Bosch would do, battered scarred or not…as my old mate used to say when he heard people belittle someones car choice…first class ride better than second hand walk.

For one part with such a long time frame couldn’t the supplier have posted the part from wherever in the world, i get many of my tyres from Germany, from ordering online they usually turn up in 3 days (overland) regardless of weather so it’s possible.

To be fair this does seem an isolated incident, and hopefully we’ve all learned some lessons.

Is Mo6’s machine up and running now?

Re: ISE5 Broken down for weeks and no one seems to care?????

This is not making good reading, long before now someone at ISE should have arranged a loan machine to have been supplied to Mo6.

The presumably local repair agent should have found something for her to use too, either off his own back or by getting on the phone to ISE and kicking up a stink and making a nuisance of himself, he doesn’t look like any form of knight in shining armour either.

It matters not a jot whose fault it is that there is a run on parts, and blaming the insurance company doesn’t wash (no pun) either, the only person suffering here is Mo6, who bought the machine in the knowledge she would have back up, which seems to be somewhat missing imo.

Don’t suppose i’m alone in watching this thread with interest, our own Bosch machine is getting on a bit now and will need replacement in the next couple of years i shouldn’t wonder, ISE10 or Miele with equivalent guarantee are in the running.
Cheaper parts that can’t be obtained are as much use as a chocolate teapot.

C’mon chaps sort this out and show us you mean business.

Re: Domestic Appliance Horror Stories ?

Hi my first post so be gentle.

It’s many years ago, probably 14 or 15 but i made the mistake (only once) of buying a Beko washing machine, firstly it didn’t work so called the no helpline…being an impatient blighter though i undid the cover and had a poke nose, after making the call though.
Sure enough found not one but two connectors hanging loose, popped them back on it worked.

Had to remove the cover and redisconnect the day the engineer called for obvious reasons, he poked and fiddled about with his equipment and pronounced the timer unit US, i could hardly lean over his shoulder and point out the loose wires on said timer could i?

So he comes back with a new timer and lo and behold the thing worked…for about another 3 months when the concrete weight block broke up.
I repaired that too with huge washers, cable ties and other such bodges, having by then realised i’d bought something i really shouldn’t have, but i was broke at the time and that’s the only reason i can come up with.

Anyway shortly after something else went, whether it was still in warranty i don’t know but i slung the thing away in self disgust (days before the net, so difficult to research effectively) and bought a Bosch WF1401, which still performs today as well as it did the first time i turned it on, though the on off switch cover is now loose…should i complain…;)

That experience taught me a lot, and our white goods are aforesaid Bosch washer 13/14 years, Meile Dishwasher 8 years, Leibherr larder fridge 6ish, Seimens fridge freezer at least 11, Bosch freezer in garage 12 to 13..all except the Leibherr have been trouble free, that has needed two thermostat thingy’s (the last one i fitted meself).

Just like to say, i’ve read the forums for some time and appreciate the honesty here.
I found out the hard way over the years that inferior products are just not worth the money, as and when our white goods comes to end of life they will be replaced by probably but not necessarily Meile, certainly not the cheap stuff coming from China or similar…not a fan of child labour so not doing anything to support it.
