The E NR is WAE24162uk/01, Thanks for your reply and your confirmation about servicing information. Its only had a dozen or so washes and I don’t believe the machine has a ‘fault’ and that they are all like this one. My problem is it doesn’t rinse well enough for my likeing. Clothes always smell of washing powder. I always use the extra aqua button, and normally resort to putting it through one or even two additional rinses programmes! I’ve spoken to Bosch about this and they said I need to use a paticular brand of powder. They obviously don’t want to agree it has a poor rinse performance. ‘Which’ the consumer magazine people agree it has a poor rinse along with most of todays washing machines, due to their ever decreasing water consumptions. I even read a government (DEFRA) paper http://www.mtprog.com/ApprovedBriefingN … July17.pdf on washing machine testing that mentions a ‘rinsing efficiency test’ and says ‘this test is needed to ensure that reductions in the amount of water used by an appliance are not achieved at the expense of effective rinsing’ The manufacturers must have got it wrong if everyone has to use the extra rinse button. If washing powder is left in the clothes at the end of each wash after a certain number of washes one wouldn’t need to add powder. In fact do a test, after completeing your wash leave the clothes in for another ‘no powder’ wash and notice all the suds!
From a service engineers prospective they are interested in fixing faults and although a machine that works but has a poor rinse is much better than one that doesn’t work at all, if I can’t sort out the rinsing then I’m looking for different machine.
As an additional point the whole point of using less water is less energy to heat the water and of course less water bills, but along with this we are told we have to do no washing hot or even boil washes to clean out the machine which seems a total waste. My much loved hotpoint is still running after 20yrs (I’ve fitted brushes and new spider/bearings) and has never had a conditioning wash in its life.
I’ve read a lot of people with skin problems also like me are trying to sort a machine with a better rinse. I would be interested if other members views.loftman
ParticipantI have similar a problem. I replaced the bearings, spider and seal in my 20yr old hotpoint 9520. It has since developed a squeak rather like a wet finger around rim of a glass sound. It disapears if drum is rotated 30mins after a wash, when the bearing sound quite smooth/quiet. When I replaced the bearings the seal had some grease or lubricant on it, which I assumed was all that was needed. What is causing the squeak. To me It sounds like something is expanding when hot or warm? Perhaps the shoulder of the spider against the face of the seal. If it is this it would presumably get better.
On a separate issue we recently purchased a new bosch wae24162. I’m not happy with the frugal ammount of water is uses. The washing always smells of powder even after using ‘extra aqua’ and even extra rinses. How difficult would it be to modify this machine to give a better rinse. What controls the water level. not pressure valves like the old hotpoint I assume all determined by the micro-proccessor? How does one obtain a circuit diagram. PS I am competent to work on electrical/electronic devices.
