the old plastic pulley has two grooves either side, in hole area,
the new pulley is smooth in the hole and no grooves, there is what looks like a small amount of rough/jagged bit on outside of hole, that faces outwards,
but i cant push the new pulley all the way snug like the plastic one sits, so the rough bit hasn’t made contact with anything?

my old pulley was plastic, the new one is metal?
different hole opening on both?

when the old pulley is on no squeaking/squealing noise, just the slight knocking, machine died in august? and have not used it, Bearing have now seized up? not sure that sounds right?
when i turn the dum buy itself with no pulley, there isn’t any noise, knocking or squealing

old plastic pulley fits snug and all the way back on part that comes out back of drum, when i put the new pulley and push it all the way back, it sqeaks/squeals when i turn it.
I have tried it without pushing it all the way on and attach belt it spins with no noise, but belt does not stay on and its doesn’t turn straight.

😀 Hi,
i am back with new pulley and belt and new problem.

i have fitted both and when i turn drum, no more knocking sounds, but, very loud squeaking/squealing? sound and very difficult to turn?

what do i do now?

😳 no i wont be using machine again.

I am aiming to get new pulley sometime next week & will look for Loctite locking solution for threads of securing nut in local DIY store 😀

Well i got machine going for a while, no more than 10 mins,
then i heard the belt come off.

I took off back of machine again and the bolt/screw in centre of pulley had loosened itself again, so i unscrewed took off pulley, there seems to be no wear or tear on either bolt/screw or pulley?

There is alot of black dust, i assume/hope this is normal?

Oh boy, I was hoping not to spend any more money……. its like i have open up a money pit

I am going to have to save some pennies and raid piggy bank to get the money together 🙁

I have tighten pulley wheel screw, put on belt,
Belt now stays on, though its not aligned, and the knocking sound is consistent, its coming from centre part of pulley wheel ?

i have been turning wheel for 20 odd mins trying to get belt to come off, not happening and can’t unloosen screw

😕 oh dear, now what do i do?

Pulley was loose when i orignally opened back of machine,
I tightened it, but then could not get belt on,
so thought i was doing something wrong, and loosened it back to how it was.

I will tighten it, try the belt again and see how i get on….fingers crossed 🙂

Pulley? is that the big wheel thingy that the belt goes around?

I got the new belt and put on the machine,
It did not stay on when i turned the drum around 🙁
there was a very slight low knocking noise, not constant when i first put the new belt on.
I have been playing with machine for about 30 mins and now no noise, but belt wont stay on.
I put it on and turn back wheel for about 2/3 mins and it eases itself off.

Is it time for a new machine?

Unfortunately now since I have had a problem with machine I am understanding that indesit is not as good a brand as I thought it was 😥

The last two machines I had were not expensive machines, 1st one lasted about 10 years the 2nd one about 7 years.
The first one worked when washing clothes, but then stopped spinning, drum use to turn when washing clothes and would drain, but would not spin. I replaced it with 2nd machine that stopped working in exactly the same way that this machine now has, the drum stopped moving.

So i decided to spend a bit more money to buy a decent machine 😥 I guess if I knew what I know now, I might have been able to try and save at least one of the machines or at least find one that wasn’t an indesit :rolls:
