I’ve had an enquiry as to whether replacing the part listed above did fix the problem – it did and is still going strong. I fitted it myself too which wasn’t traumatic but does involve removing a number of electrical parts from the old control panel carefully, so they can be fitted to the new one.
Many thanks to UK Whitegoods!

Thanks for the tip. I got the toolbox out (turned off the power!) and reset the mechanism which was indeed stuck in the shut position. Went through the reset procedure for the brain and it worked fine.
That is until I opened it again and the lock stuck back in the shut position. I’d read elsewhere on the forum that the facia panel holds the lock and that sometimes this fails. Mine has, with one of the lugs snapped off, meaning the lock is not held firmly in position. The grey plastic part of the lock mechanism looks a little worn but is still in one piece.
I’m thinking of just getting a new facia and seeing if that fixes it. Maybe that plus a tweak of the striker will sort it. Sound like a good idea?
Guess I’d better head to Shop@
Thanks again for your help

OK I tried the reset procedure as above and the machine has shown signs of life. However….
At the point of hitting the program button at the end of the process, the DW burst straight into life and I had to shut door quickly as water started shooting out. It then continued for about 5-10 mins before stopping.
On opening it had not pumped out, so I repeated the procedure and it continued for anothet 5 mins or so, pumping the water out and stopping.
I’ve tried using the reset procedure a few times and
1) I never get any lights lit that seem to relate to the error codes in the manual
2) Every time I try the DW does something different on the lights front. I’ve had 1+4 lit and 5 flashing, just 1 lit and 5 flashing, and at one point had all five flashing simultaneously.
3) It always seems to start mid program
What can you suggest? Does it look like brain failure? Mine or the DW’s?
Am thinking of videoing it drenching me in water and waiting for “When Dishwashers Go Bad” to come on Sky looking for contributors.
Thanks.

Thanks K!
I’ve done a search and found the following for a very similar model:
“Turn off at the power button and leave for 10 seconds.
Turn on power button and press the program button 4 times
I found that you had to be very quick pressing the program button four times after powering up. You know you’ve hit it right when then two outer lights stay lit.
Then push the program button once.
Then power off (without closing the door).
Wait 15 seconds then power up and the reset should have taken place. “I’ll give this a try and see what happens.
Cheers.
