Have a similar problem of chattering relay and flashing temp display on Whirlpool AFG7060 freezer, Service Number 8549 706 15000. After a few hours the freezer stops working.
I have just replaced the sensor but the problem is still there with the new sensor. The reason I thought was the sensor was that it works perfectly on Fast freeze and deduced that the ff function bypasses the sensor!! The only problem with leaving on ff is that I can’t regulate the temperature and it goes upto -24 which is the limit of the display panel. In effect the temp could go to say -40 !!! Am I correct?

If the control board needs replacing ten I don’t think it is viable at a cost of over £100. Already spent £30 on the sensor! The freezer is about 3 years old.

If anyone out there knows a cheap solution, please let me know.
