    Hi Dave,
How can you tell which Bosch machines have an all metal tub?
As I say above: If they are all more or less of the same poor reliability, is the difference in how well they clean and in how good they are in terms of practicality?
Though, before my head explodes, I think I’ll just go for the Bosch Serie 2 SPV2HKX39G.
    Cheers, Mark

Thanks andyjawa (I think!). Yes, I’m confused.
Some must do a better job of cleaning and be more practical than others?

    Hi Guys,

Dave, as I’ve said earlier – the bearings have gone. UK Whitegoods say the pump is obsolete and there is no suitable alternative.

Andyjawa, is it really that clear cut? All dishwashers are as poor as each other? In the articles on UK Whitegoods, they say: ‘In short, if you want a dishwasher that will perform well, last a good few years without incident then be prepared to spend over £400 at least for a good one or, over £500 for an integrated one. Cheap integrated ones almost always come from China and go wrong… a lot!’

This is why I was looking at the two Bosch and Neff models – is one better than the other?

Miele seems to be the safe bet, but at £1200 an awful lot of money!

I think I have less choice because I need a slimline integrated dishwasher.

Thank you both for your time and opinions.

    Cheers, Mark

    Hi Dave,

The wash pump is, as you suggested might be the case, now obsolete and there is no suitable alternative.
Can you recommend a manufacturer and model that would be a suitable replacement for the built-in slimline model that I have?
I see John Lewis do a Neff S875HKX20G (£568) and a Bosch Serie 2 SPV2HKX39G (£449). Are they more or less the same? If possible I’d like to spend less, but I don’t want something that is useless. Though, I do not require something that is all singing and dancing.
Would Siemens be the way to go?
Thank you for all your help and advice so far.
    Cheers,

    Mark

    Update:
Did not make it through wash programme, the pump has seized again.
I cannot find the pump online. Does this mean it is the end for the dishwasher?

The cover is off and I can see the pump.
There are fins on the rotor arm and when I tried to spin the motor it was stuck. With a bit more pressure the rotor started to turn in one direction, but not in the other. Then, again, with a bit more pressure the motor turns in the other direction. It now turns freely in both directions.
I started the dishwasher on a 65 degree wash: the drain pump started, the water was let into the machine and then the wash pump sprung into life and, as I type, the programme is still running!
    What do you think?
I think the bearings in the motor are warn and the pump is probably kaput.

    Okay.
So, I can’t work on the appliance in situ – it has to come out from under the worktop?
When you say right hand side, is this as you look at it from front?
    Sorry about the stupid questions!

Tomorrow I’ll see if I can locate the wash pump by taking off the lower front panel (I guess it is not accessible from inside the washing chamber itself) and see if there is any current running to it.
Though, £160 is a lot of money – is it worth trying to keep such an old model going?
The dishwasher only has a cold feed – the water was warmer than the cold water that entered the machine, but nowhere near as hot as 65 degrees!
    Cheers,

    Hi Dave,
    Thank you for your post.
In your opinion, what would be my next course of action? I can’t see a wash pump on the UK Whitegoods site.
    Cheers,
    Mark
