Re: Bosch dishwasher not heating up – unless I open the door

One other thing that might be worth mentioning – the dishwasher hasn’t just suddenly started playing up… the performance has gradually worsened over the last few months and the duration it takes to complete a wash has gotten longer and longer. If there was some sort of burnout on the control panel, you’d expect that I’d experience all these problems immediately. I wonder if the pressure chamber is blocked? Do you know where abouts it is on my model? My one seems to be different compared with those that’s I’ve seem online and I can’t find a way of getting in there!

Re: Bosch dishwasher not heating up – unless I open the door

Hi Martin, I have the evening set aside for the dishwater tonight! I’ll have a look at the control panel… I assume this is located behind the front panel? My first thoughts were that the dishwasher was under filling and that the water level was not high enough for the element to switch on. I can add about a kettle full before the overfill float triggers and pumps water out… so I would add about half a kettle until I realised that simply opening and closing the door was all that was needed for it to work. However, there seems to be enough water and it usually comes half way up the salt fill cap.

Thanks for the replies so far! Ok, I have taken a picture of it so hopefully you’ll have a better idea of what it is!

We guessed already what it is, what we don’t know is what the MODEL NUMBER IS..? It would help a whole bunch if you could tell us….. 😉

Hi Martin, I’ve attached a few photos – everything looks clean to me. What do you think?

There seems to be a bit of a build up just under these sections at the bottom of what I presume is the pressure chamber – perhaps these need to be cleaned out? If so, how do I detach the pressure chamber?

    Again, slightly closer.

Ok, I’ve taken the side panel off and here’s a few pictures… it all seems pretty clean to me!

Re: Bosch dishwasher not heating up – unless I open the door

Thanks Lee. I’m running a main wash right now – I switched the dishwasher on and waited for the pre-rinse cycle to finish (15 mins), I then let it run for a further 20 mins or so on the main wash and then opened the door to see if there was any heat… stone cold. I closed the door and after just a couple of minutes opened it up again, it was already getting hot.

In order to check the parts you have mentioned, do I need to remove the side panel? How do I get access to these parts? It seems more and more likely that there is some sort of pressure issue… but are we ruling out any sort of electrical fault? When I open the door I am breaking a circuit, right? That then stops the dishwasher until I close it again, causing it to resume. Is it at all possible that something happens whilst the power is off? Do any of the sensors/valves/switches get reset?

All your efforts are great appreciated – thanks!

Ok, it’s quite hard to read but I think it’s: sgs43c12gb/16

Re: Bosch dishwasher not heating up – unless I open the door

The dishwasher does get nice and hot once I have opened the door – steam rolls out so I think we can rule out any local problems with the heating element. The inlet valve has been changed so it’s highly unlikely to be that either.

The question is, exactly what triggers the heating elements to kick in? Is there some sort of pressure switch and can opening the door influence it?

Thanks for the replies so far! Ok, I have taken a picture of it so hopefully you’ll have a better idea of what it is!

    Any ideas?
