ParticipantRe: Smeg DWD1SSE stops mid-cycle
Hi again,
The plot thickens!
Having tried the new dispenser and mains cap with no joy I thought I’d try a few things. The machine will complete the quick rinse cycle with no problem. I tried running the machine with the dispenser solenoid disconnected but as soon as it tries to start the drain pump gives a quick “cough” and the machine resets itself as before.
I’ve put the solenoid back in circuit and watched it running with the door cover off. The drain pump will run as normal but I’ve noticed that while the pump is running the solenoid seems to have a very slight pull on it as though the drain pump (or something related) is running in series with it causing a slight current flow through.
The solenoid pulls in fully at the appropriate moment and then releases a few minutes later (I thought this release may have been the source of a back EMF causing the processor to reset but the machine carries on beyond this point for about 5 minutes).
Should the drain pump be relying on the solenoid coil for operation or am I shedding light on a non-existant problem?
I’ve requested a cost for a replacement computer module but I expect it’s not going to be cheap.
Any help or pointers would be appreciated. I’m thinking I may have to go down the “call an engineer out” route so can anyone recommend a good one in the Falkirk or Bathgate area.
Thanks
