…and further investigations reveal a four legged IC on the main PCB had blown up.

So a new machine is on the cards. At least I can use the door glass from this one as a fruit bowl.

update: the machine won’t turn on at all now. The plug and 13A fuse are OK. I’m told that before it died completely it made ‘a funny noise’. I wasn’t here at the time.

I’ll try replacing the plug if you think it could be that. The wall socket is also used for a kettle (only one device is plugged in at any one time) with no problems.
